White River House Aquila Apt: Stein Family
April-May 2012
Thank you so much, Greg and Jodie. You guys are truly amazing, wonderful people.
When I first started looking for a place for us to stay during my father-in-law’s transplant it was very stressful until I found SHN and Greg. Greg was truly so kind and helpful. He worked with me and was so understanding.
The house is beautiful – so peaceful. It was so clean and had everything we needed for our “home away from home”.
Sitting outside on the deck was breathtaking and peaceful just looking down the hill to the river. We got to see deer, squirrels, ground squirrels, blue jays, geese and even an eagle!
I believe this house and having SHN welcome us here with open arms helped with my father-in-law’s healing and helped all of us feel comfortable while we were here and feel like we were at home.
My only one complaint is I wish other families – other transplant families – knew about SHN.
Thank you again with me speaking for everyone in my family. We will see you again in August.

Thank you, Greg and Jodie, for the wonderful hospitality you have shown us. It felt like coming to our home after a long hospital stay instead of an uncomfortable hotel room. After having major brain surgery my husband, Nick, was able to get hours of restful sleep that he needed. God Bless you guys and your wonderful ministry!

We have stayed in several places in Rochester over the years. Your “home” by far meets our needs best. We will stay with you again! Thanks so much!
Red River House: Warren Family
May 14 — June 18, 2012
My daughter, Shelly, and son-in-law Tom and I have truly appreciated and enjoyed the hospitality here at Red River House.
I’ve stayed at a motel on many of our earlier visits to Mayo and I just don’t think we could have handled the 5-week radiation stay that way.
Thank you for offering yourselves and your home to provide us with a home-away-from-home.
Keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
City View Sanctuary: Kennedy Family
Dear Jodie, Greg, and Scott,
Mike and I arrived home safely on Friday evening to hugs from our family. Our stay with you at City View Sanctuary was wonderful. The accomodations were homey, clean, and comfortable. It was such a benefit to have a place to cook meals after long days at Mayo Clinic. It also saved us a lot of money! I enjoyed the daybed in the living room. While we watched television in the evenings, I would look out over the skyline of the city. What a beautiful view!
Everything we needed, including starter supplies, was well thought out. Mike used the maps and welcome guides in the furnished notebook to get around the town. We even found some of the best Chinese food I have ever had, due to a Rochester guide. (I wanted to bring the restaurant home with us. )
You also went above and beyond with helping to provide air conditioning for us by providing a portable unit on our first night. (The entire building had not been turned on yet.) My allergies immediately dissipated. Scott, thank you so much for taking care of this for us. It was so very kind of you!
Whenever I had the chance to visit with other people waiting for appointments at the Mayo Clinic, I shared our wonderful experience of staying with you. All of our friends here in Kansas City know of you, too! We hope to stay with you in July when I return for another week.
May God richly bless you,
Holly’s House Michael & Erin Apts: Hansen Family
Everything was wonderful and we have been so appreciative of not having to stay in a hotel room. You have done everything with the comfort of the guests considered. Love, love, love that everything was so clean and nice. And thank you so much for Ethan’s birthday treat! Looking forward to seeing you again in a couple of weeks.
Serenity House Brigid Apt: Gramann Family
Serenity House was like having a safe place in a world of confusion. We could come to this place and feel instantly we were in our home away from home. It almost seemed we had our own “bear” cave – safe, warm and comfortable. There was a lot of activity in this place while I was in the hospital – people/family making comfort, home-like meals, sharing shifts of sleep throughout the day and night, finding privacy and retreats in separate bedrooms, relaxing in p.j.’s til time to get moving with the day…Family kept telling me that taking this place was a right decision. In retrospect this place was not “taken” but “given”. It truly was our place of serenity.
Thank you, Jodie and Greg, for providing this option for families. You are doing the right thing.
Best wishes to all,
Holly’s House Michael Apt: Folsom Family
The Serenity House became our home for almost 6 weeks while Mom received a stem cell transplant. The home-like apartment was very comfortable and a nice change from staying in a hotel. I found the park and walking paths across Broadway a welcome opportunity to get outside and get some exercise several times while knowing Mom was resting comfortably and had everything she needed at the house.
Thank you for opening your home to our family.
White River House Priscilla Apt: Seelhoff Family
Dear Kevin and Heidi,
The Priscilla apartment was a wonderful surprise. Your place was home these few days. My husband was able to write his sermon for a wedding on Saturday and do his text study for Sunday’s sermon. I was really concerned about him being cozied up in a motel while I was getting the help I needed.
My wonderful mate had supper for me upon my return from Mayo every evening. We didn’t have to eat fast food in a fast food atmosphere. Wonderful.
My time here was so well spent. All my doctors were amazing. I am an artist and the art at Mayo was absolutely healing to my soul. Thank you for using your Gog-given gifts to serve others in their time of need – me this time.
The Lord not only provided physical healing this week but emotional healing and you are part of that.
With deep appreciation,
Sunny Place Cottage James Apt: Askegaard Family
Dear Sunny Place,
Thank you for giving us a home away from home at a time when our family needed to be together. This home is not only comfortable but beautiful and has everything we needed and we never had to bring it from home.
Thank you again for your hospitality and for your mission of offering hope to families that are facing medical difficulties.
God Bless You,
