House Moms/House Parents
Since most of our guests are from out-of-town, we offer additional Christian Support Services at no extra cost. Each guest is free to accept or decline these services based on their needs and desires. Our volunteers are called House Moms or House Parents. Each House Parent is assigned to a specific property or properties. When a new SHN guest places a reservation, they will be asked if they would like to have an SHN Volunteer (House Mom) contact them to set up a time to deliver Welcome Bread, from a local bakery, when they check in. If the SHN guest says, “Yes”, they will receive a text or phone call from their House Mom/Parent to set up a time to bring the Welcome Bread & offering free, optional support including:
- Welcome Bread at check-in
- Linus Blankets
- Prayer support
- Local church information
- Local community information such as nearby grocery stores, pharmacies, etc.
- Texts throughout stay for support
- Seasonal treats based on availability
- Answer any questions they have about Rochester or Mayo Clinic
