Annie’s Patient Hospitality House is a fourplex that was newly remodeled for patients in May 2016. Each apartment has new appliances, new hardwood floors, king-sized beds, Queen sleep sofas, (2) Smart TVs. Each also has its own AC/heat control for optimal comfort. Annie’s also provides free laundry, and a library of books, games and puzzles for guest use. Annie’s has a wheelchair ramp into the building granting easy access into the main floor apartments, Cliffy & Doris, which include power lift recliners and low-threshold showers with repositionable shower chairs. The William & Mae apartments are on the second floor. Annie’s is just a 10-minute drive to Mayo Clinic and St. Mary’s Hospital. It’s conveniently located in a residential neighborhood just minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, and is on the city bus line.
Doris is a main floor fully furnished apartment with patient-friendly features including main-floor living, low-threshold shower with shower chair, power lift recliner and traditional recliner. While the apartment is wheelchair-accessible, the bathroom is not (too narrow). The master bedroom has a King bed and its own flat-screen TV. Additional sleeping space can be found on the living room sofa’s high-quality Queen hide-a-bed. One detached garage stall with remote included.

Doris Apt. 2022: Fully Furnished Apartment For Mayo Clinic Heart Transplant Patient And Family In Rochester, MN
It has been a long arduous journey. Brian was admitted to our local hospital on December 2, 2021 for a hip replacement. He spent the next 4 1/2 months in the hospital or nursing home- except for 9 days over Christmas. He came to Rochester the end of March, and was immediately admitted to Mayo’s St. Mary’s campus with end stage heart failure.
By the power of countless prayers and Gods grace he received the gift of life in the form of a new heart on April 13th. He spent another 2 months in the hospital recovering.
On June 16, after 7 1/2 months in hospitals and nursing homes, Brian was discharged.
We were required to stay in Rochester for at least another 30 days- which is what brought us to Serenity House Network’s Annie’s house in the Doris apartment. What a welcome change from where we had been staying! It has been so nice to have an apartment that feels like being home. Doris has been perfect for us. Nicely finished, clean and comfortable with room to move around! It is conveniently located, making trips to Mayo Clinic for follow up care and testing hassle free. Having a garage, and a washer and dryer in the building was a wonderful bonus. Greg and all the staff have been so friendly and helpful. They truly are heaven sent. Our house mother, Diane, was so thoughtful to welcome us with a loaf of cinnamon chip bread and then a pie to celebrate Brian’s birthday.
We have finally been given the okay to head home. Our stay is in no way unique, and we know we have had a much easier rode than many. We are forever grateful to the staff of Mayo Clinic and to SHN for making our journey smoother. God bless you all! God bless our donor and their family and all who come to stay here.
